Hi all! I have some news!
1. I’m holding a sale on my prints on Storenvy! (Click the photo above!!)All large prints are $5 and mini prints are $2.50! I have some stock still left from the convention I was at last year and I would like to get them off of my hands. All of my orders include a small extra so please consider buying something~ this only applies to the older prints, and once I sell out I won’t be restocking!
2. I’ll be tabling at Mizucon next month! I’m working on new prints, stickers and even charms so I can have new products to sell in the store afterwards. If you live in Miami/Florida be sure to visit me!
Please reblog ;w; /// thank you!

Craftsy’s Online Class, “Drawing Anime Style,” Half Off!

Superonic Sponsor Craftsy is offering one of their very incredible online classes, "Drawing Anime Style," half off for Supersonic readers!

Drawing in an Anime style is an immensely popular art form but finding instruction at the level that Craftsy offers is very hard to come by.  The class offers hours of HD videos with instruction on Manga head design, the figure, eyes, hands, coloring techniques and many other points of interest.  It’s an invaluable option that never expires once bought for any aspiring creative or even professional, one of many of Craftsy’s classes I wish had existed when I was learning my own craft.

Getting the 50% discount will happen immediately, all you have to do is register or log in on Craftsy!

I’m super glad this person is drawing and having fun but, dude, this really isn’t at a level where you can teach other people…

Is this a joke?

Like a prank or something?

This person is not at a level whatsoever to be teaching anyone anything, other then exactly what NOT to do.

HAHAHA no please no i cant take this please be a joke

*draws 3 animes* yeah im set, im ready to be your Manga Sensei

"Carol Cotty Kilbanks attended Syracuse University and St. Martin’s School of Art in London, England, and began her animation career working on shows such as The Berenstain Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. After re-locating to Los Angeles, she worked as an animator for Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon, Marvel New World, South Park and Disney.

UHHH reading the description.. I think she should have better done an cartoon class.

BUT HOLY HELL 300+ PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE CLASS !?

So, this woman seems entirely dishonest.

First off, I cannot find any evidence she ever worked for Disney. If she did, it was insubstantial enough that she did not earn a credit for it. Certainly wasn’t in any films. Second, what she DID do was EXCLUSIVELY background work. Meaning she painted the backgrounds. She has some other credits as a color specialist. But she never did any character animation. And whatsmore, she did background art ONLY for TV shows - not exactly well known for stellar backdrops. Most of her work was on Taz-Mania and Dino Babies.

So her selling herself as an animator is a little bit…stretching the truth. Background artists are important, but she’s selling herself as a figure artist. Of anime no less. And she seems to now be making a living telling people she’s an animator with an impressive resume by padding it a bit. When you say “I’m an animator for Warner Bros.” they’re going to assume you were actually drawing characters in classic Looney Toons. When in fact you were drawing backgrounds is their less popular and certainly lesser known shorts.

From what I read, it stems more than that. She claims when working on TMNT that she was drawing Splinter and April O’Neil and Shredder. But on TMNT she was the color supervisor. For only a handful of episodes. The color supervisor isn’t an animator at all - they just ensure color translates properly to the screen. Again, necessary job. Not what she’s claiming.

I really hate dishonesty in artists - there are many very talented artists who would love to make a living, but get overshadowed by people who make wild claims knowing most people won’t know the difference nor care…

Reblogging for stroggenough’s good response.

If that really badly drawn anime doesn’t tip you off, always try to research the teacher’s credentials when it comes to tutorials from the pros in the system.

300 idiots were parted from their money. Three-hundred idiots. That’s 30 tens! And that’s terrible!
